Goal Getter Podcast with Karissa Winstead
About two months ago, I started my first podcast: Goal Getter Podcast with Karissa Winstead. This was something I had wanted to do for a while but I kept putting it off. I kept asking myself, "what would I talk about?" ... "would anyone listen" ... "what if my voice gets on people's nerves?" ... "would anyone even care?". But I just decided one day to pull the trigger and do it. I attended a very inspiring marketing class taught by Tim Davis (if you don't know who he is, go check him out) and I got in my car when I left that day and recorded my first episode right there in the parking lot. Something about his class hit me like a ton of bricks and there was just a voice telling me I needed to stop putting it off.
My vision for the podcast is to talk about my goals that I have set for myself and to share my struggles along the way. Every new year I make resolutions and goals and have big dreams for the next 12 months. Sometimes I stick with my goals, sometimes I don't. But so far in 2019, I have done pretty good at sticking with the goals that I wanted to achieve.
We all know it can be really easy to say you're going to do something, but life gets in the way and those things you say you're going to do don't always happen. But, over the past year and a half, I have become a mom, started a new job, started training for a half marathon, and I'm in the process of building my (and my husband's) dream home that I plan to live in the rest of my life. Big things are happening and I want to share my journey. Not because it's glamorous. It's completely the opposite of that. Social media can make people's lives look perfect and like everything is so easy and going great. But guess what? That's not the case. There are struggles. LOTS of struggles. That's what I'm trying to share in this podcast. I want people to know those things you typically see on social media are the end result. You don't see the journey to get there - the hard part. When you make a goal, that is the bottom of a big mountain you are about to climb. It's going to be hard and you might cry and get stressed out along the way. That's okay! That is part of the process and that's how you grow and learn.
In my podcast, I also plan to interview people who inspire me. People who have reached really big goals or who are working their butts off to get to where they want to be. I want you to hear from those people too. Everyone has a different journey to where they are today - so why should I be the only one sharing my story?
I hope you will subscribe to my podcast and give it a listen. I don't have any fancy equipment or editing software - maybe one day. But I do have a passion to share these stories with you with the hope that you'll be able to overcome any obstacle you may be facing in the journey to get where you want to be.
